What are molecular sieves? What are the types of molecular sieves?
We often use desiccant in life, commonly used desiccant activated carbon, activated alumina, molecular sieve, silica gel. Different occasions need to use the desiccant is not the same, molecular sieve is mainly used for the depth of the gas drying, drying effect is good, can be recycled, different types of gases can be used in different types of molecular sieve adsorption removal. Today we come to understand the molecular sieve. Molecular sieve is a kind of aluminosilicate, which is mainly composed of silicon aluminum through oxygen bridge to form an open framework structure. In this structure, there are many well-aligned pores of uniform pore size, which have a large internal surface area. In addition, it also contains metal ions with low electricity price and large ionic radius and bound water. Due to the continuous loss of water molecules after heating, but the crystal skeleton structure remains unchanged, forming many cavities of the same size. The cavities are connected by multiple micropores of the same diameter, and the molecules of the material have the same diameter. A pore having a smaller diameter than the pore is adsorbed in the cavity. Molecules larger than the pores are repelled, so molecules of different sizes are separated until the action of the screening molecule is called a molecular sieve. It is mainly used for the deep drying of various gases and liquids, the separation and purification of gases, liquids, catalyst carriers, etc., so it is widely used in oil refining, petrochemical, chemical, metallurgy, electronics, national defense and other industries, and more and more widely used in medical treatment, Optics, agriculture, environmental protection and many other aspects.

Working principle of molecular sieve
In the low-temperature rectification air separation device, the water, carbon dioxide, acetylene, hydrocarbons and other substances in the raw material air must be removed before the air enters the rectification tower. Otherwise, the water and carbon dioxide will freeze and adhere to the heat exchanger and rectification tower in the low-temperature environment, thus reducing the working efficiency and increasing the resistance of the equipment. Methane in liquid oxygen has high solubility and is not easy to precipitate, while other components will precipitate and aggregate in liquid oxygen in the rectification tower, compromise the operation of the device. In order to avoid blockage and explosion of low-temperature equipment, ensure the long-term safe and reliable operation of the device. Therefore, the molecular sieve is the key device in which the air is purified before the air enters the low temperature cold box.
Regeneration of Molecular Sieve in PSA Air-separation Plant
For PSA pressure swing adsorption molecular sieve air separation equipment, molecular sieve is the core component of the system; only clean compressed air through the molecular sieve continuous adsorption and regeneration, in order to continue the production of nitrogen or oxygen we need.
[China Science News] New research uses three-dimensional electron diffraction technology to analyze the structure of molecular sieves
Recently, the team of researcher Guo Peng and academician Liu Zhongmin of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences cooperated with the team of Associate Professor Wang Lei of Nanjing University of Technology to make new progress in the study of molecular sieve structure analysis. The team used advanced three-dimensional electron diffraction technology (cRED) to directly resolve the structure of pure silicon molecular sieves containing ordered silicon hydroxyl groups. The results were published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Properties and Applications of Molecular Sieve
Molecular sieve it is a kind of aluminosilicate, mainly composed of silicon aluminum through the oxygen bridge, connected to form an open skeleton structure, in the structure there are many holes with uniform pore size and arranged neatly, large internal surface area of the hole. In addition, it also contains metal ions with lower electricity price and larger ionic radius and combined water. Because water molecules are continuously lost after heating, but the crystal skeleton structure is unchanged, many cavities with the same size are formed. The cavities are connected with many micropores with the same diameter. Material molecules with smaller diameter than the pore are adsorbed inside the cavity, while molecules larger than the pore are excluded, the molecules of different sizes and shapes are thus separated until the action of the sieving molecules is called a molecular sieve. Molecular sieve has high adsorption capacity, high selectivity and high temperature resistance. Because of its excellent performance, it is widely used in organic chemical industry and petrochemical industry, and it is also an excellent adsorbent for gas dehydration, and it is also increasingly favored in waste gas purification.

What are the main functions of molecular sieve
Molecular sieve is mainly by molecular gravity, in the fixed surface to produce a "surface force", when the fluid flow, some of the molecules in the fluid, will do irregular movement and collision to the surface of the adsorbent, in the fixed surface produced a molecular concentration, in the overall collision movement, the number of molecules reduced, so as to achieve the separation of the role.
